World Press Photo is a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands, which endorses development of photojournalism. To support professional press photography on an international level, WPP organizes an annual contest and exhibition – workshops and classes, also. The photos below are a sample from this year’s winner photos; the rest can be found at WPP website. Though themes of the photos shown here vary according to assignments taken by photojournalists, they all provide a glimpse into raw realities of this world, from a very human perspective. In most of them, a specific conflict exists between the ugly reality and the beauty that can be captured in just an instant of it.
