A Stalker Extraordinaire
|

Alexandre Orion is a stalker. Not only a benign one, but a stalker of only his own creations. This Brazilian artist is famous for his photographs of interactions between graffiti he makes and various members of the community. He makes a graffiti and can wait for hours to make one perfect shot of what seems like a natural and a very life-like interaction between a product of his imagination, and a very real person. His approach to taking these photographs is what truly defines him as an artist – it’s something of a spiritual process of appraising moments, the energies generated by participants and their interactions in a way that feels just like creating them manually. Seems we can imagine what we will, and simply “take” it from our apparently simple surroundings. Or, at least, Alexandre Orion can – and what he takes are moments of a visual conflict, surreal and uncommon, that is present when real is penetrated by the unreal.
