Designated pseudohistorian and pseudoarchaeologist by his mainstream contemporaries, Erich von Däniken is the man that made us think about the possibility aliens visited Earth a long time ago. “Ancient astronauts” is what he calls those creatures that, in no small way, influenced what we became since. Evidence for such interactions between humans and E.T.’s are, in his view, abundant.

The Bible – There are, among others, couple of verses in the Western Holy book which von Däniken believes are a depiction of a UFO landing:

“And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding it self, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.

And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.”

Religion – Gods are actually extraterrestrials who visited Earth a long time ago, and had divine properties attributed to them by our ancestors, due to their inability to explain what they saw in a different manner. Von Däniken uses this notion to refute the moral authority various religions hold. There is no eternal entity, Heaven or Hell, only advanced knowledge – would be the premise.

Evolution/panspermia – We all know of the primordial soup, in which was crated the very first living cell. However, a very small group knew, Däniken of course, included, that this “spark of life” was of alien origin. It was a result of aliens going about, fertilizing planets “in heat”. This is why, according to the man, there is life on other planets, and why we resemble E.T.’s in our appearance.

The Pyramid of Cheops – Von Däniken is pretty serious in his accusation against Egypt’s government, various archeologists and egyptologists; common sense the booster. “How the hell could have those poor desert-dwellers from a thousand years ago, built such a structure!?” – is a depiction of the rationale. It’s the pyramids perfect geometry that makes von Däniken believe it was constructed by E.T.’s. Why those advanced space travelers needed slave labor, stone for material and secrecy about their presence is a mystery yet to be solved.

The Brown dwarf and the Mayan calender - Another blast from the past. There is a small but significant body in space, designated Brown dwarf or Nibiru, that will come to Earth, and as it is said, bring with it chaos. NASA and the Vatican are well aware of the existence of this “Planet X”, and are keeping it a secret, to avoid mass hysteria. Mr. von Däniken also believes the rock in question visited the Maya, some time ago, and bestowed upon them, the calender. It remains unclear what kind of chaos NASA and the Vatican expect from a calender-bearing dwarf.

The Nazca lines – Another geometry driven conundrum. To make a straight line, you need some kind of a tool, preferably a ruler. Now what kind of a humongous ruler did the South American natives have, hundreds of years in the past? They were clearly crated by aliens, and for the purpose of landing their space crafts. It appears they were unsure on where to land, and the optimal solution was, on an outline of a big bird. Strange navigators, but who are we to judge. And to support the claim, it seems the landing zone had further optimization added, in form of various non bird-like lines across, probably because landing was still pretty rough.
